Rental Fees

Private party reservations allows a group to have exclusive use of the bowling center and is dependent upon Nebraska East Union staff availability. 

Parties are limited to a maximum of 40 guests.
 

Rates for 0-2 hours:

  • UNL Recognized Student Organization: $150
  • Valid UNL ID: $200
  • Public: $300

Additional hours: $75 per hour
 

No cash transactions. Payments are with credit/debit card, check, SOFS account (RSOs) or Cost Object Number (UNL Department) only.

Additional charges will be applied when the private party is held outside the regular operating hours of the Nebraska East Union .

Additional Fees

Early Building Opening or Late Building Closing: $75 per hour

Special Building Opening: $375 for 5 hours, $75 per hour for each additional hour

Excessive Cleaning Fee: $25 per hour/$50 minimum (see below)

Damaged/Stolen Items: Various – Direct Replacement Cost

Violation of Food/Beverage Policy: $100

Catering and Food Policy

All events, regardless of their group affiliation, wishing to have food and/or beverages must order through University Catering (unlcatering@unl.edu, 402-472-8161).

No outside food/beverages will be allowed, except for a birthday cake from an Approved Food Provider.

Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) must complete an Event Planning Registration (EPR).

Parking
Available in the parking lot north of the Nebraska East Union at meters or arrangements may be made through UNL Parking and Transit Services; 402-472-1800 or http://parking.unl.edu/ for groups wanting to buy parking passes. 

Inclement Weather

If the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is closed, Husker Bowling Center and the Nebraska East Union are closed, too. 

All scheduled events in the Nebraska Unions will be cancelled. Refer to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s website for re-opening information.

Event Signage and Directional Signage

Posting of event or directional signage throughout the building is only permitted with prior approval from Nebraska Unions Reservations.

Decorating Policy
  • Adhesive, Sand weights, glitter, confetti, confetti cannons, artificial snow, rice, bird seed, excessive feathers, dance wax, powder, or other similar materials are not allowed. 
  • The use of incense, candles, fog and fire machines, sparklers, special effects equipment, the burning of any material, or anything producing an open flame/haze/mist is strictly prohibited unless pre-approved by the Nebraska Unions Reservations office.
  • All decorations, displays, and/or signs must be freestanding
  • Nothing can be nailed, tacked, stapled, glued, taped, or otherwise fastened to ceilings, walls, windows, columns, woodwork, painted surfaces, draperies, shades, and doorways. This includes lighting, projectors, microphones, cameras, or projection screens in the rooms.
  • Any decorations beyond the entrance of the group’s reserved room must be pre-approved by the Nebraska Unions Reservations office.
  • All exit doors, exit lights, fire sprinkler heads, fire alarm pulls, fire extinguishers and other emergency or safety equipment must be kept free of obstacles and decorative material.  Clear and easy evacuation of the event must always be permitted in the event of an emergency. All halls and stairs must remain unobstructed. 
  • All decorations must be removed immediately after the event, unless prior arrangements are made with the Nebraska Unions Reservations office. Trash containers will be provided by the building staff to assist the group in clean up.  Groups will be charged an additional cleaning fee if decorations remain beyond the end of the event.
  • If damage or loss occurs to the Nebraska Unions facility, its furnishing and/or equipment the group responsible for the reservation will be liable for an hourly excessive cleaning/damage charge (plus material costs if applicable).
  • Whenever there is a question on the use of something not listed above, it is the sponsoring organization’s responsibility to review with the Nebraska Unions Reservations. 
Excessive Cleaning Fee

It is the reserving group’s responsibility to ensure the space they reserve is returned reasonably clean and as close as possible to the original room configuration as they found it. 

If spaces are left unreasonably dirty or not returned to the same condition, they will be charged an excessive cleaning fee of $25 per hour with a $50 minimum charge.
