Nebraska Union renovation 2024

HERO area

Nebraska Union Renovation

Rendering of restaurant seating area with people dining, ordering food, and socializing.

About the Project

The former Nebraska Union food court is being reimagined as the Dining Commons, expanding from three concepts to five and bringing together familiar favorites with new dining experiences. This shift to a fully university-operated model allows Dining Services to better connect menus, service, and the overall experience across campus.

About the project

The Updated Dining Commons Will Feature:

• Imperial Palace (Reimagined)
A long-time Union staple, Imperial Palace returns with its wok-fired favorites, refreshed with a more modern look and feel while maintaining the flavors students know.

• Valentino’s (Returning Favorite)
A Nebraska favorite, Valentino’s brings back big slices and familiar flavors as a go-to option in the Union.

• Husker Heroes (Flagship Location)
A campus favorite known for its made-to-order sandwiches, Husker Heroes will establish a flagship home in the Union, bringing an expanded menu into a central campus space.

• Introducing Sossy
An elevated, slow-cooked BBQ concept that keeps the soul of a classic roadside joint—bold flavors, a little messy, and made to be enjoyed with your hands.

• Introducing Choolaah
Featuring Indian BBQ-inspired cuisine, Choolaah brings vibrant, fire-driven flavors to the Nebraska Union and expands the variety of dining experiences available on campus.
